They say time flies when you’re busy and boy, oh boy have we had a busy year here at Cornwall Glass!
Starting the year with some post-Christmas blues, things soon picked up with the decision to rebrand all the branches of the company to trade under one name. After much head scratching and consultation with our colleagues, the decision was made that all branches would trade as Cornwall Glass. Along with our new tagline “The People Behind The Glass” all that remained was to design the new logo. This was conjured up by the team at St Austell Printing Company and even our toughening stamp and mascot got a name and a colourful make-over by the talented Rocket Pixels …welcome Charlie Chough!
Of course with the rebrand came all the work entailed with it new livery signs for branches and vehicles. This task was executed with enthusiasm and excellent craftsmanship as always by the Cornwall Signs team. Letterheads, business cards soon followed thanks to Nationwide Print who have supported Cornwall Glass for many years. Delivery notes and internal paperwork by Martin Luck. With pens and mugs from Surf Works the final touch…colleagues now look super, smashing, great in their rebranded workwear thanks to the guys at CIS.
Next on the list was our website, in need of some fresh content and a whole new look we worked closely with the team from Yell to create a fully responsive site that we feel now delivers our brand and products to our customers and is also a tool for colleagues to reference whenever and wherever they wish.
With the rebrand safely tucked under our belts thoughts turned to ideas for showcasing our glass to our potential customers. Our Commercial Sales director Angus Herdman had always nurtured the idea of a glass bridge that could be taken from venue to venue to be an eye-catching centrepiece. The colleagues at Cornwall Glass worked with Celtic Design and the handrail experts at Kestrel to see our Glass Bridge become reality. Proudly displayed and creating much interest at the Cornwall Home Show at Wadebridge showground and The Self Build and Design Show held at Exeter Westpoint Arena. With media support from Cornwall Living, we were able to showcase our products to the homeowner audience as the go-to supplier for their glass.
Always looking for new and exciting projects Cornwall Glass was thrilled to acquire LW Architectural Glass in Hayes. Taking us out of our traditional area and enabling the group to expand and produce multi-layered bespoke products it was an exciting time, welcoming new colleagues and challenges. It was with heavy hearts that events out of our control meant this new venture was sadly short-lived and our board of directors had to make the difficult decision to close down operations at Hayes after only a few months in operation.
Our annual golf day held at Truro Golf Club proved to be a great sucess again with our customers joining us for a brilliant day.
Being part of our community and supporting those in need remained close to our hearts as always this year. Working alongside the amazing team at Cornwall Community Foundation our Cornwall Glass Fund has enabled us to reach out to those in need. Colleagues also took part in charity events raising in excess of £1,000 for Children’s Hospice South West.
Supporting many community sporting teams, events and individuals our branches are proud to be 2017 sponsors for: Penryn RFC, St Austell RFC, Frome FC, Tamar Saracens RFC, Falmouth Cricket Club, Newquay Cricket Club, Exeter City FC, North Bristol RFC, The Cornwall Road Running Grand Prix, Somerset Series, Combe Horse Show, Royal Cornwall Show, Yeovil Golf Club, Truro Golf Club, Truro College.
Preparations for Christmas and our 40th Anniversary celebrations are well underway. It only remains for us to say thank you, to you for being part of an amazing year and to wish all our customer a Very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!
