Glazier/Window Fitter

 Position: Full Time

Cornwall Glass & Glazing Ltd has been established for over 40 years and has built a great reputation across the Southwest

Due to expansion and increased workload, we are recruiting for a permanent, full time Glazier to work approximately 40 hours per week Monday-Friday with additional Saturdays on a rota basis.

Experience in glazing is preferable as we undertake the full remit of glass installations, although, we would consider applications from individuals who have experience in a related trade.

We operate in both the commercial and domestic sectors and good communication is key when dealing with all our customers; as part of the role would be to survey and ascertain the customer’s requirements.

We under take installation of the following products on a regular basis and knowledge of these would be essential

  • Replacement Sealed Units
  • Traditional glazing including putty work
  • Mirrors
  • Shower Screens
  • Secondary Double Glazing

Installation Knowledge of the following would be highly desirable

  • Fire Glass
  • Balustrading
  • Templating
  • Shopfront Glazing
  • PVCu Windows and Doors

You need to be able to work within a small but productive team, show integrity, ambition, initiative and pride in your work with a right first time attitude.

Specific training for CSCS, IPAF, PASMA will be provided for the right candidate.

A full, clean driving licence is essential.

Sales / Trade Counter Administrator

 Position: Full Time

Location: Penryn, Cornwall (1 Position)

Cornwall Glass & Glazing Ltd which has been established for 40 years and has built a great reputation, both throughout the Southwest and in the local area.

We are looking for a full-time, experienced customer facing Sales Administrator to work approximately 40 hours a week (Including Saturdays on a rota system) to work in our Plymouth Trade Counter.

This role will involve manual lifting– full training will be given in the handling of glass, all PPE relevant to this part of the role is provided by the company.
This position within our existing team will look to engage with both domestic and commercial customers and to promote the full product range that we offer.

A driven individual who is a skilled business administrator, able to communicate well and confidentially with both the trade and public over the phone and in person. Input orders with a high level of accuracy. An individual who is both a team player but can also work on their own.

Apprentice Glazier

Location: Exeter (2 Positions)

Cornwall Glass & Glazing Ltd has been established for over 40 years and has built a great reputation, both throughout the Southwest and in the local area. We specialise in providing quality glass products.

The successful applicant will need to be a confident and willing to learn all aspects of glazing including:

  • Surveying
  • Putty Glazing
  • Balustrading
  • Glass Doors including Shower Doors
  • Glass Splashbacks
  • Mirrors
  • Glass Handling
  • Cutting

In addition to the above you may be required to work in other areas of the business once you’re working well within your role

Cornwall Glass Manufacturing – Manufacturing Operative Apprentice

 Position: Full Time

 Location: St Austell, Cornwall

Positions: 1 available

Cornwall Glass Manufacturing are offering an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to develop their knowledge & skills in the glass industry over the next 2-3 years within this experienced & well-run company. The first part of the journey will be a Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative over a 15-18 month duration, followed into a progressive Level 3.

As a Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprentice for Cornwall Glass & Glazing, you will be carrying out your work safely and meeting the high quality standards set in a fast paced and well organised environment, you will be maintaining quality control by carrying out quality checks throughout the manufacturing operation to ensure standards are being kept to the same high standards. Productively minimising waste in line with environmental systems and regulatory requirements, alongside many other manufacturing activities, including a variety of glass processing tasks you will be expected to undertake (with training).

Responsibilities will include;

  • Preparation of products prior to finishing
  • Batching of jobs / orders
  • Finishing / packing of products using protective films
  • Assisting our Technician on site around the local area.
  • Maintaining Health and Safety requirements at all times
  • Contributing, developing & supporting improvement in the manufacturing operation
  • Process visualisation using lean principles
  • Problem solving tools and techniques
  • To be aware of business continuity processes via Line Manager
  • Toughening furnace
  • Cutting & Dispatch
  • Basic Administration duties

Things to consider

  • This pathway, like many glass/glazing jobs, requires manual skills, handling heavy equipment, and spending long periods standing; so physical fitness is important

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week)

Our Penryn branch is looking for Apprentice working as an Trade Counter Administration Assistant and will involve dealing with customers face to face & over the phone along side the administration of the day to day tasks of ensuring the customer receives excellent customer service.

The aim is to become a confident, skilled business Administrator with excellent customer service skills and achieve a relevant NVQ (L2/3) and Technical Certificate along with Key Skills and practical experience. Full on the job training will be given to the successful applicant.

Overview of Role:

To become proficient in all areas within the trade counter

There will be thorough on-the-job-training.

You will be expected to complete a

NVQ Level 2 – Business Administration then progress to:

NVQ Level 3 – Business Administration

Apprenticeship Term:

The apprenticeship will run for 2 years but will lead to a permanent full time position at the end.
