Customer & Business Support Apprentice

This is a new and exciting opportunity for a customer focused candidate who will be supporting a busy administration/customer support team as an apprentice, working from our main St Austell office. The role will be a mix of customer skills using telephone and online services and a variety of business and marketing support.

The job role will be varied but will cover most aspects of office administration but will involve the data processing of client/customer information, regular use of telephone and online systems to liaise with customers and external agencies. Many tasks will involve effective and accurate ICT skills so confident IT skills will be required. Other tasks could include the following;

  • Dealing with incoming/outgoing telephone enquiries and inputting order details as required
  • Providing excellent customer service/support at all times both face to face and over the phone
  • You will utilise your customer skills whilst contacting potential and existing clients to promote company products
  • Assisting with social media and marketing tasks as necessary to promote the business
  • Providing general office support to sales/office staff as necessary

 Trade Supplier Apprentice

Location: Cornwall Glass & Glazing Exeter, Devon (1 position)

A Trade Supplier apprentice plays a vital role in ensuring an efficient flow of goods and services between manufacturers and their skilled trade customer base. Typically, a Trade Supplier will operate a small warehouse and trade counter, which is visited regularly by professional trade customers who have technical knowledge about what they are buying and also general day-to-day customers either in person over the trade counter or over the telephone.

The apprentice will understand incoming deliveries, stock control and despatch. They will be familiar with processing customer orders and taking delivery of goods and the basic administration related to these functions. A key element of their role will be to have technical knowledge of the products and services offered together with the bespoke systems and equipment used in their trade business. They will communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers to build relationships and provide a high-quality service that encourages repeat business.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Identifying customer needs and supply correct materials solution
  • Communicating with customers in person and on the phone, receiving and processing customer orders
  • Maintaining and communicating stock levels with management and communicating lead times
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Assisting with building’s upkeep to maintain good business operating conditions
  • Responsibility of looking after the show room and upkeep of all displays, making sure there is good stock rotation

As a Lean Manufacturing Operative apprentice for Cornwall Glass & Glazing Ltd / Cornwall Glass Manufacturing you will be carrying out your work safely and meeting the high-quality standards set in a fast paced and well organised environment, you will be maintaining quality control by carrying out quality checks throughout the manufacturing operation to ensure standards are being kept to the same high standards. Productively minimising waste in line with environmental systems and regulatory requirements, alongside many other manufacturing activities, including a variety of glass processing tasks you will be expected to undertake (with training).

Responsibilities will include;

  • Preparation of products prior to finishing using semi-automated systems
  • Batching of jobs / orders
  • Finishing / packing of products using protective films
  • Maintaining Health and Safety requirements at all times
  • Contributing, developing & supporting improvement in the manufacturing operation
  • Process visualisation using lean principles

Due to expansion and increased workload, we are recruiting for a permanent, full time Glazier to work approximately 40 hours per week Monday-Friday with additional Saturdays on a rota basis.

Experience in glazing is preferable as we undertake the full remit of glass installations, although, we would consider applications from individuals who have experience in a related trade.

We operate in both the commercial and domestic sectors and good communication is key when dealing with all our customers; as part of the role would be to survey and ascertain the customer’s requirements.

We under take installation of the following products on a regular basis and knowledge of these would be essential

  • Replacement Sealed Units
  • Traditional glazing including putty work
  • Mirrors
  • Shower Screens
  • Secondary Double Glazing

Installation Knowledge of the following would be highly desirable

  • Fire Glass
  • Balustrading
  • Templating
  • Shopfront Glazing
  • PVCu Windows and Doors

You need to be able to work within a small but productive team, show integrity, ambition, initiative and pride in your work with a right first time attitude.

Specific training for CSCS, IPAF, PASMA will be provided for the right candidate.

A full, clean driving licence is essential.

We are looking for a full-time, experienced Glazing Estimator to work approximately 43.5 hours a week.

This key role within our existing team will look to engage with both domestic and commercial customers to quote from enquiries both verbal and written, specify and provide guidance in relation to wind loading and barrier safety and guidance around the very latest energy efficient ranges of glass and glass related products. (Training on glass and glass related products will be given to the successful candidate).

You need to be able to show both leadership and the ability to work as part of a team.

Experience for this role is essential with a sound knowledge and understanding of drawings. You will need to show integrity, ambition, desire, and pride in your work and carry out your role with care and great communication skills at all levels. A self starting problem solver with a positive attitude.

Glass Operatives

 Position: Full Time

             Plymouth, Devon (1 Day Shift Position, 1x Night Shift Position)

Highbridge, Somerset (2 Positions) 

We’re looking for a committed, enthusiastic individual is sought to carry out the following tasks within our busy production factories in St Austell, Plymouth and Highbridge.

Your Duties will entail:

· Toughening of flat glass- to include furnace operation/loading and unloading /arising glass

· Glass cutting- manual cutting and/or operating and breaking out an auto table

· Manufacturing Double Glazed Sealed Units both on automatic lines and hand gunning

Hours vary from different sites, and we have positions available for both day and night shift.

Training on the job will be provided for exceptional candidates who have factory environment experience but no glass experience. Once trained this role will involve the movement and carrying of various types of glass.
