Production Manager

1 Position: Highbridge

Cornwall Glass has been established for nearly 40 years and had s built a great reputation, within the glass industry and throughout the Southwest. We specialise in providing quality products such as Insulated Glass Units and a wide range of Processed Glass.

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager or an individual with a very good knowledge, understanding and ability within the glass production environment to take on this role to complement our existing team.

This position requires the successful individual to:

  • Oversee the overall running and responsibility of all production matters at Cornwall Glass Highbridge;
  • Work closely with the Shift Team Leader/s to achieve the demands of production including; daily planning, quality, housekeeping, training, waste;
  • To liaise with other branches within the group at times to offer support with orders, advice or training needs etc;
  • To deal with production personnel-related matters which will include the daily attendance, annual leave and discipline;
  • Responsibility for Health and Safety within the areas of production;
  • To maintain and be up to date with all aspects of our quality management systems which include EN!”&( for the IGU and EN12150 for all the toughening;
  • To arrange and carry out any internal and external audits for the above;
  • To be up to date with all aspects of production machinery which must include planned maintenance, servicing and breakdowns and any costings;
  • To monitor on a regular basis internal and external remakes and implement reductions/improvements;
  • Stock control and communicating with suppliers;
  • To liaise closely with other department managers to ensure the reasonable demands of customers are satisfied.

In addition the above you may be required to work in other areas of the business once you’re working well within your role.

To successfully secure this opportunity you must have:

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written along with strong IT skills are of primary importance;
  • Extensive knowledge of the flat glass industry is desirable;
  • A proven, demonstrable track record in production management;
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience;
  • Extensive knowledge of EN1270 and EN12150. knowledge of ISO9001 would be useful;
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental management;
  • the ability to manage team leader, to enable them to work with a good degree of autonomy, whilst meeting the requirements of the General Manager and site Director;
  • We are looking to implement greater use of KPI’s to measure performance and to influence management action. An appreciation of the benefit of and a real commitment to this statistical approach to management is essential.

Apprentice Glazier

1 Position: Exeter

Cornwall Glass has been established for nearly 40 years and has built a great reputation, both throughout the Southwest and in the local area. We specialise in providing quality glass products such as Insulated Glass Units.

We are looking for an Apprentice Glazier at our Exeter branch.

The successful applicant will need to be confident and willing to learn all aspects of glazing including:

  • Surveying
  • Putty Glazing
  • Glass Balustrading
  • Glas doors including shower Doors
  • Glass Splashbacks
  • Mirrors
  • Glass Handling
  • Glass Cutting
  • Sandblasting and Leadwork

In addition to the above, you may be required to work in other areas of the business once you’re working well within your role.

  • A great attitude and strong work ethic
  • Be capable and confident in your ability

Ideally, this position would suit someone looking for a career within the glass trade. Glass handling training will be given and you will be expected to gain a L2/L3 qualification as part of your apprenticeship.

The apprenticeship is a permanent full-time post.
